We are just back from an amazing weekend in Notre Dame Park. We had great weather start to finish. My parents were able to join us for the weekend. My brother Jim, his wife Debbie, their daughter Alex and her friend Danika stopped in for a visit on Saturday. My son Richard and his girlfriend Keshia camped out with us Saturday night on their way to Gros Morne. Our campsite was on the ponds edge with an amazing view.
On Saturday morning I couldn't resist getting up a little early to go for a solo paddle around the pond. The water was as flat as I have ever seen and the sights and sounds during that hour long paddle were a highlight for me.
We saw many squirrels and birds but the wildlife highlights were a couple of beavers that were angry at Richard and I for intruding on their territory and these 2 loons that entertained us with their song.
Even my mom was unable to resist the temptation and went for her first ever ride in a canoe.
We had an amazing weekend and would recommend this park to anyone. This weekend puts us at 30 nights of camping in 2010 with a few more to go yet. Our expectations for this camping season have already been exceeded and there is still more to come.
Photo's and tales of adventure and/or misadventure as the Dower's go camping, canoeing, and hiking.

Blue Fin RV Park
Last weekend we set up at the Blue Fin RV Park along with 3 other camper friends and their families. This RV park is more of a city of RV's and nothing like the country campground settings we have been visiting most of this summer. The facilities were top notch and the weekend was really more about enjoying the company of friends than enjoying the wilderness so the setting worked well. We are taking a break for a couple of weeks and our next trip will be in central NL where my parents have decided to join us for the weekend.
